Backing (Or Breaking) Training

Only Requirement is that your horse is halter broke and leadable.

This is a basic ground work program, including tying, grooming, tacking, lunging, manners while leading and basic bathing.

The main focus of the colt breaking program is to teach the horse to accept the saddle, bridle and rider without fear.

The horse will learn basic commands such as walk foreward, halt from voice and seat, and turning off the leg. Many horses are cantering undersaddle by the end of 30 days.

Pricing: $275 per month for the first 2 months PLUS board. *See facilities page for boarding information.

Reason 1: Meet Trainer J.L. Murphy: Not just your average horse trainer-

"I began riding at the age of 6. I come from a completely non-horse related family, was raised in town and yet somehow at an early age horses was all I wanted to do. My mother got me lessons at the age of 6 I have been riding and showing horses ever since.

I never had the privilege of purchasing a finished horse. From a very young age I began exploring with different training techniques. I have a strong foundation in dressage which I believe helps create a balanced and responsive horse for any discipline. All my horses learn the basics of balance, suppleness and responsiveness.

I began buying and re-selling project horses at a very early age. I have had everything from off-the-track TB's, unruly warmbloods, unbroke ponies, 3 yr old stud colts and more. Each breed and individual horse learns differently and at a different rate. My skill has been being able to push a horse just enough to get maximum results in a shorter amount of time without over facing them.

When it comes to training sport horse prospects my experience with top-notch show horses has given me the eye to accurately evaluate a prospect for a respective discipline and train them accordingly.

I am small, therefore I am light on a horses back which reduces or eliminates soreness. It also makes me a great candidate for ponies. (5'3 and 110lbs) However, don't let my size underestimate my toughness.

Most importantly I've had success! My past horses (all which started as untrained) have gone on to win Circuit Championships, National Championships, State Champions, and wonderful seasoned children's/AA mounts.
